Recommendation From Auckland Blues - Wayne Pivac
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Wayne Pivac and I am a Professional Rugby Coach. I am currently employed by the Auckland Rugby Union as the Head Coach of their ITM Cup. The team represents Auckland in the National Provincial Championship.
As part of the preparation work, which goes into each season, the full team of Management and players go into a camp situation in the pre season. Camps vary from a couple of days to a week depending on the requirements of each particular group. To carry out a successful camp you need to have cost effective facilities, which include the ability to cater for accommodation, kitchen and eating, team meetings and adequate toilet and shower facilities. These facilities need to be close to training grounds and either pools or ocean for reasons of recovery.
We are booked to have our 2012 Camp at the Omaha Marae.
We have chosen the Omaha Marae because it meets our requirements in that the playing fields at Whangateau are only a ten minute drive away, the area is surrounded by sea and the Marae is secluded.
I have also stayed at the Marae on 3 other occasions with 2 different rugby organisations.
The first was with the North Harbour ITM Cup side in 2008 and then again with the Pakuranga Premier Club sides of 2010 and 2011.
The staff have been fantastic to deal with. The traditional welcome and farewell ceremonies and the history lessons add real value.
I personally have recommended this facility and group to other organisations. In short the team running the Omaha Marae facilities deliver a great product on a shoe string budget.
